Capistrano Beach, is the South Orange County real estate secret you’ll want to know, if you’re seeking a less hectic beach- and sea-oriented environment well away from Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm and the other major commercial/tourism areas of North Orange County, California, The many custom-built homes here in Capistrano Beach were designed with the individual character of the owners in mind, so if you hate “tract homes” you’ll think that Capistrano Beach real estate is heaven. This distinctive look is especially evident in the multi-million-dollar homes built a few yards from the surf, right on the sand along famous Beach Road.
Homes along Beach Road can cost millions! Beach Road (private) parallels the ocean, as does Pacific Coast Highway right next to it. And inland, rising 80 feet above PCH, is a long bluff running all along Capistrano Beach and along much of South Orange County. The street atop this bluff is called Camino Capistrano,
which in the 1700s was part of the old mission route, running from Southern to Northern California, connecting the California Missions. Not all Capistrano Beach real estate consists of luxury homes; there are many mid-priced condos, townhomes, apartment buildings, and single family homes, too. But real estate here is snapped up fast, so if you’re planning a move here, begin your hunting early, especially by checking the local MLS often, including using my special MLS service right here.

Capistrano Beach Park is tucked between Doheny State Beach and San Clemente, just below the big Capo Beach bluffs and just before you get to the luxury homes on Beach Road. Wheelchair jocks like this beach because it has a beach-level parking lot, making it far easier to access the sand. There’s a basketball court, volleyball, fire rings for cooking on the beach and a snack and rental stand providing bicycles, lounge chairs, umbrellas, inflated balls, surfboards, roller blades, etc. Years ago, Capistrano Beach, California was its own city, but was later incorporated into the City of Dana Point. Capistrano Beach real estate boomed here as Dana Point’s massive yacht harbor project drew to completion. The lovely harbor can be seen from the view windows of many “Capo Beach” homes. The Dana Point/Capistrano Beach Historical Society, which you should visit for the history of Dana Point/Capistrano Beach, says this about Dana Point Harbor:
“One of California’s most romantic spots is also one of its most historical. This area bears the name of American author Richard Henry Dana who marveled at its beauty in the mid-1800s while on his famed voyage, recounted in “Two Years Before The Mast.” The harbor provides anchorage for over 2,500 pleasure craft, yet is much more that a boating facility. The Orange County Marine Institute offers an opportunity for marine study and discovery. Recreational amenities include a park, a calm water swimming beach, fishing pier and a variety of restaurants and shops catering to the casual visitor and boating enthusiast. restaurants. It’s my favorite harbor restaurant, and I should know
because I’m a bit of a cook myself.
Try the pastrami on rye with brown mustard
and a pickle----a favorite of Debbie and her husband, Bill.
 Perhaps the two best known features of Dana Point Harbor are the Ocean Institute with its new Dana Point Harbor live Web cam, and the two sailing ship replicas, the 1820s (animal) hide ship, Pilgrim and The Spirit of Dana Point, a 1770s privateer.
The Sailing Brig, Pilgrim Dana Point is named after Richard Henry Dana, a New Englander who visited this area in 1835 as an ordinary seaman aboard the (animal) hide ship, the Pilgrim, which traveled to California around Cape Horn. In 1840, he returned to Boston and published the best selling book, Two Years Before the Mast, documenting his California voyage. He described the local beach and bluff here as “the only romantic spot in California.” In

Beautiful, abundant with recreational choices year around, and offering such a wide choice of Capistrano real estate that it boggles your mind.
